Kohli Rejects Ganguly's claim, Has No Problems with Rohit Sharma

 

        *  An hour and a half before the team announcement, ONE DAY announced that the captain would be fired.

        *  The BCCI has been informed that it is interested in continuing as ONEDAY captain.

        * No one has asked the Twenty20 captain not to step down. Other arguments are wrong.

        * Will play in the ONEDAY series against South Africa.

                        Virat Kohli has expressed his displeasure over the removal of ONEDAY captain. Kohli said the selectors had informed him of his resignation only half an hour before the selection committee meeting. "The BCCI has never been involved in this," Kohli said. Kohli also rejected the claims of BCCI President Sourav Ganguly. Kohli has also ruled out playing the ODI series against South Africa.
                     On the 8th of this month, Kohli was replaced by Rohit Sharma as the ODI team captain. Kohli resigned as Twenty20 captain after the World Cup. Rohit replaced him. But the move to the ODI captaincy came as a surprise. The BCCI has argued that a captain is ideal in ODIs and Twenty20s. Ganguly then came to the scene with an explanation. Ganguly's response was that he was asked not to vacate the Twenty20 position but did not comply.

                    But Kohli rejected this argument. The BCCI has not discussed the ODI captaincy in any of the days between September 16, when he left the Twenty20 captaincy, and the selection committee meeting on December 8. The board approved the decision to vacate the Twenty20 position. He said he wanted to continue as Test ODI captain. There were no other problems. No one has raised the issue of eviction, Kohli said.

                 Chief selector Chetan Sharma had a discussion with me before the selection committee meeting. The discussion was about the Test team for the tour of South Africa. It's over, and just before the end of the conversation, the 5 selectors announce their decision to step down as captain. My answer was 'OK, good'. This is what happened.
