Australia tightened their grip on the first day.

             


Adelaide : Australia Tighten their grip on England on the first day of the second Ashes Test day and night. By the end of the first day, Australia were 221-2. Australia went into the second Test without Pat Cummins, who led them in the first Test. Pat Cummins will be replaced by Steve Smith, who will lead Australia. Steve Smith is wearing the captain's shirt for Australia for the first time since the ball - rolling controversy. Pat Cummins did not play because of Kovid's involvement. Both teams went down to play with two changes. James Anderson and Stuart Broad return to England squad.

                  Australia captain Steve Smith won the toss and elected to bat The Australian openers started with care. The Australian openers struggled to find the rhythm against the accuracy and speed of James Anderson and Stuart Broad. Broad, meanwhile, dropped M Harris. The game slipped out of England's control when M Labushain joined Werner.Both men slowly moved the scoreboard. The England bowlers were sweating to take both their wickets. In the meantime, both have completed half-centuries.    


Warner fell to 95. This is the second time in the series that Warner has been out in the 90s, having dropped out of 94 in the first Test. The duo put on 172 for the second wicket. Werner was dropped by Ben Stokes. Fourth, captain Steve Smith is at the crease alongside Labusha. The duo added 45 runs. Jose Butler took 3 catches for England.
