This draw is equal to victory ... Team India in despair.

Good luck to New Zealand on the last day of the first Test, which was very exciting. On the last day, India had to settle for a draw only due to misfortune.  A draw similar to victory for New Zealand. Lack of light and heroic resistance on the last wicket kept New Zealand on the brink of defeat.

The umpires decided to end the match due to lack of light as New Zealand reached 165 for nine after chasing 284 runs. Shreyas Iyer, who scored a century and a half in his debut match, was the man of the match

On the final day, New Zealand faced the Indian bowlers with care. Opener Tom Latham scored 52 off 146 balls while William Somerville scored 36 off 110 balls. New Zealand were 118 for two at stumps.  But by the next 37 runs, India were on the verge of victory, taking seven wickets for New Zealand. But Ajax Patel and Rachin Ravindra combined for an unbeaten 10th wicket to give New Zealand a win and India a loss.

Ravindra Jadeja took four wickets for India. R Ashwin took three wickets. With 3 wickets in hand, Ashwin became the third highest wicket - taker of all time, beating Harbhajan Singh.
